Post subject:  Funicular Railway in Grasse, Provence-Cote d'Azur

There were a lot of Funicular railways in France. Someone pointed out to me that the closed Funicular in Cannes still has all the track and structures in place, just waiting for resurrection! That is a post for another time.

I have done a bit of research about one Funicular Railway, in Provence - the old Funicular in Grasse.

When the PLM built its branch-line to Grasse the terminus was some distance below the city centre. A variety of different options for making the climb to the city centre presented themselves to travellers. They could walk or hire a trap, they could use the tramway which wound its way up to the City centre or they could use the Funicular from the Station platform.
