Why don't they run train air hose over the bearings so if they overheat they melt the hose and dump the air before the bearnig gets too hot?

My guess is if the hose was close enough for a bearing to burn through, who's to say it wouldn't rub through first? Depending on how the bad leak is, you're bound to lose air, and it's gonna be a pain finding it.
