Hello.

Apologies for the shaky foundation of this thread, but if anyone can help, it's you. In This video, one can observe both an American-style lightweight coach and an older, European style coach on the railroad of the Central Romana company in the Dominican Republic. As both presumably were imported, does anyone have any info or identification on them?

Thank you.

Interesting is an understatement; the car in front - numbered TC-1 - would appear to be a sleeper to my untrained eye. The European car in the back is an enigma.

The "Euro" style one does have a vague "Scandinavian" look to it and reminds me of the Danish ones at the Nene Valley Railway here in the UK.
Ignore the blue one, and you can just see part of one of the maroon DSB cars beyond that. Unfortunately thats the best photo of one I have, and the group that owns them don't appear to have updated their website since 2012..!!

It was interesting to note that both the cars in that video still appear to have been constructed to the same loading gauge.

I think you're right on it being scando of some sort. Pictures from the B&ML operation down in Maine back when they bought a bunch of sweedish stuff don't show a big size difference between budds and these coaches.

Typically speaking, the coaches here in Scandinavia with a rounded roof end do not have the indented doors. Usually they have a tapered end with that feature. Square ends like the danish coach are the common feature seen with indented end doors.

Danish: no, doesnt match anything I've seen built
Swedish: likely not, doesnt include the features of Swedish coaches I know
Norwegian: maybe, but still leaning on no

Funny enough however, the body design and features are very close to the international dining car in the foreground of the Danish coach. Maybe it has an origin from the Netherlands or Belgium?

For the mundanely curious, the Danish coach I think is of the Avl class. That is the first photo I have seen of it, where as previously I had feared it scrapped. It must have been painted very recently, as photos I've seen show their fleet of Danish material in a green and yellow scheme.
