PostPosted: Tue Mar 26, 2002 8:25 pm

It was brought up on this site about having "lets roll" somewhere on the locomotive. Well, it indeed was put on the aux tender, with a flag right next to it. It was nice seeing the people point, take pictures, and talk about it. I'm sure there's some pictures out there of it on the web.

And yes, we did fly US flags on the 4449. She sure was a sight!

It sure was nice seeing the families with thier children lined trackside flying thier flags too.

Check out Steam Central for the Martin Hansen picture that shows the "Lets Roll" AFT 4449.

Steve Brown sent me some nice ones as well..including Cape Horn Tunnel. Didn't see
any helicopters though so it wasn't a very comprehensive batch of images. Seems like whenever the Daylight runs, there are sure to be some folks in the air. I hope it was worth it for all concerned.

There seems to be more pics coming out. Check on the Friends of the 4449 web site, there's a growing file there.

Smokebox,

Thanks so much for adding those words to the aux. tender. I just changed the wallpaper on my computer desktop to the 4449 and aux. tender. She is truly a National Icon. The survivors of those who perished on Flight 93 should see this.

The official site for the 4449 is:

www.4449.com

Check postings under the turntable shot for many photos.

Thats a tough address to remember. Checked out the shots....and the winner is Martin Hansens shot with the twin Snow-capped Peaks....The description is vague as to where this is....I am guessing the photorun due to nice smoke effects.
Nice shot Martin, and good location steam crew!
Also enjoyed some of the vintage AFT shots.

 Post subject: Let's Roll

For those who are wondering.....It was Mark Ray from TVRM who originally suggested the "Let's Roll" moniker. There is now talk of applying the same to TVRM's ex-SR WT #51 for Autumn excursions. Who else will climb aboard? Let's make it seen from sea to shining sea! (Maybe add "Light the Fire Within" also HV & NN?)

ps-Former Lionel part owner and current vintage rocker Neil Young should also be proud!

"Former"? I was under the impression that Young still owns the ruling minority of Lionel stock. No?

I really don't know, so don't quote me on it. I do know for a fact that Neil's new CD will be released very soon. I heard a song from it today on the radio (besides "Let's Roll"). He is now using the Blues Brother's band for back up (at least on one song if not the others).
