I think this is the one stored in kit form at Mt Rainier Scenic RR shops. If I had won the lottery, I would make it my recreational project.
Dave
I thought this engine was scrapped.

She's being restored by the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad.

Well that is interesting. I could swear the Little River Railroad museum has a caption under one of the historic photos of this engine lists this as being scrapped decades ago. I read it twice, since I live about 5 miles away. Too bad the original Little River r-o-w can't be rebuilt, it's a beautiful section of country.

The one currently under restoration was the original articulated for little river. It was returned shortly after arrival because its wheel base was too long to handle the curves. The second articulated number 148 is the one that was scrapped. There are three Little River Railroad locomotives left, 4-6-2 110, 2-4-4-2 126 (Old Skookum) and Shay 2147 located at the museum in Townsend, TN. I recall seeing a pic of the original 2-4-4-2 all parts laying about on the ground.
Let's hope she can get all together. Nope not scrapped. Oriental model is based on that engine.

The Skookum is coming along well. The tender is done with a new tank, bunker and many other new parts.
The boiler has her sheet work done and the cab is being completed now. The running gear is also well along. We could see her done and running next year.

Major milestone this morning. The loco & tender are now together & upright! Still a number of tasks to do...

that's awesome!

Is the boiler/running gear work mostly done and just waiting for further assembly?

That is a saturated steam compound, isn't it? I bet it carries it's own rainstorm with it wherever it goes.
