I'm pretty sure theres an FTB at southeastern in Georgia.......saw it in 2007, looked like a heater car conversion.

Correct. The FTB unit at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth, Ga is SOU #960604. It was converted to a heater car in 1959.

Here a pic: http://www.locophotos.com/PhotoDetails. ... oID=102707

Also, SERM sold the FTB at MOT to them in the mid 90's as it was part of the original demonstrator set.

According to: http://www.thedieselshop.us/BNSF.HTML
BNSF is still running four ex-ATSF SD45-2B units!
numbers 6520 - 6523

Some photos:

Hold on..they might not still be operating afterall :(
"stored on the dead line" in 2009:

Well..even if they have been retired, it's probably safe to say they still exist..
rare survivors.

That cannot be true as all other sources say that only survivor of the original A-B-B-A demonstrator set 103/103A is the A unit 103 at MoT.

From MoT's own roster info:

SOUTHERN #960603 EMD/1943 Orig. D; Model FTB
Converted to steam heater car

Built in 1943, it's obviously not part of the 103 set.

Also, when EMD cosmetically restored 103 for 50th anniversary celebrations in 1989, it would hardly have made sense for them to have paired with a similarly painted random FT-B if they could have mated it with a genuine demonstrator B.

Wish it were true but it's not. However, I'm glad to know that 4 FT-B's survive. (Diesel Era's FT book claimed only two.) For FT-A's besides the ex-demo in St. Louis there is an ex-NP in Mexico.

Im trying to find out if any B-units are still in Class-1 service..
havent found any..
BNSF has retired the SD45-2B's and stored the GP60B's..
Anyone know of any other Class-1 B's of recent times?

While googling about, I came across this interesting item:

This is the same unit before she was rebuilt:
