Yes, I was. Thank you. That info filled a gap in what I had. Did these come from VIA directly or from a dealer?

I know that the "B" units are more difficult to trace, I am also in need to get histories on these.

The A-B set at Monticello have also been restored to the 1950's CN Green and Gold paint scheme as shown in the link below.

Interesting, I haven't heard of any locos running on natural gas yet, I'll have to see what info is out there. It's definitely grabbed my interest. Is the natural gas and diesel running together or do they switch between one or the other?

They start out on diesel and switch over to gas. When they go to shut down they reverse the action.
ALCO had diesels that could run on a variety of fuels going back to the 539 engine.

It's straight natural gas. ECI converted the EMD 2-stroke to spark ignition, there's no diesel fuel aboard what so ever.
ECI also converts to dual-fuel, using slightly modified Diesels and injecting natural gas to burn cleaner and be less expensive on fuel. Have a look at their web site - it's crude but informative: http://www.energyconversions.com/

So much for the old trick of sending the new worker to the stock room for "a set of EMD spark plugs". When I first saw the "EMD spark ignition", I thought, "Is somebody trying to see if the readers are paying attention?"

This is an update to my 2 posts of Dec 27/11 on the GC units.

I left 6762 off the tech notes and that is at the bottom of my post.

Here is the current status of the Grand Canyon FPA/Bs

6762 and 6768 are parts engines
6793 and 6860 are active.
6773, 6776, and 6871 are currently stored serviceable.
6793, 6760, 6773, 6776, & 6771 have been converted to freight gearing and
their steam generators have been removed.

#73 is indeed on CNG as the previous posts have mentioned. I for some reason transposed the CNG onto #70 even though all the info I had on NV stated #73 was totally converted to CNG in 2008.

It is 1 of about 3 Locomotives in the world that run on CNG (napa valley website 2008)

I would like to confirm a couple of things....
6793 is listed as both active and having freight gearing. Is this correct?
Are all of these X-VIA and CN?
Are all of these on the current roster?
It appears that they(Grand Canyon) have quite a few units.
