I have read that the 0-6-0 and three cars at Orlando's Church Street Station have been moved to the Florida Railroad Museum at Parrish, Florida.

The dome car is apparently the former UP 7009, sold to Auto Train in 1972, then to Robert Snow in 1981 for use at the Church Street Station.

Is the dome car currently at the Florida Railroad Museum? Does anyone have a photo of it in its current condition?

Here is a roster listing of UP's 7000-series dome cars:

Yes, the UP dome car is at the Florida RR Museum. It is stored at the museum's shop area in Willow, FL. Willow may be hard to find but it is appox 6 miles north of the museum's stated home of Parrish, Fl. The car is in rough condition as it had leaking dome windows for years when it was at Orlando. However, it is probably restorable. The museum may be interested in selling or trading it for other equipment having a Florida history. If you have a serious interest in the car, please contact me off the list.

I am enclosing a photo of the car arriving at Parrish, FL. It was unloaded here and moved 6 miles on it's own trucks by rail.

Thanks,
J R Herron

I did a inspection on this car for a company in orlando a few years back and I have some good photos of the car from that trip if anyone needs them. Over all the worst dome I have ever looked at. The belt rail for the dome was peeling away from the car and it had things growing in it at the time and was real beat. The diner was bad too. The only thing that was worth saving was the obs car and the steam engine.

You obviously have not seen the former B&O dome carcass that is/was in MOT's collection in St. Louis. After looking at the car, I'm shocked it arrived on its own wheels.

...and from what I heard, MOT was surprised it arrived at MOT in one piece...

That UP dome would sure look nice behind a certain restored UP E8 in California and four UP passenger cars...
