There are all sorts of wacky conspiracy theory about those white box cars (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bjg1UaryuLM ) taking us to FEMA death camps like the one in Beech Grove Indiana (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P-hvPJPTi4 ((I love it at 1:09 when the narrator says "this is just an old train repair facelity with nothing worth stealing")))

Well being in railroad preservation I felt it was my job to teach people about these trains so I made this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsdY-F8x5Lw enjoy.

P.S. If you can't tell this video is a joke ;-)

Pfffft, how do some of these people get out of bed in the morning without hurting themselves?

"Nothing worth stealing?" Check the threads on Interchange about scrap thieves!

"Was supposed to close in June of 1993"--was that one of the times Amtrak had a serious threat of closure to get rid of it? Investment in concrete floors in unused warehouse structures? New very large furnaces? She should have gone inside to see what goes on, and should have done it in cold weather, where she would likely find that even those furnaces would have a time keeping those huge brick buildings comfortable. She probably never had a Lionel train as a kid, would have recognized the light tower. As to the "military" locomotive and crane, how many of our excursion roads have equipment around like that? I can remember MRS-1 diesels still in grey and military markings on the South Branch Valley. Sheesh!!

You want to see something really bad? Check out this commentary from a couple of years ago by a well-known columnist on the subject of passenger trains:

No wonder we rail enthusiasts "don't get no respect;" we're a bunch of people who hate America and the American way of life!

These folks should be locked up for their own protection, LOL.

This was an interesting look at life in the shallow end of the gene pool.
