I will be traveling in a sleeper on the Sunset Limited from New Orleans to LA. The train leaves New Orleans at 9 AM.

Will the dining car be open for breakfast at the departure time? or am I on my own for breakfast?

Thanks for your help.

Stop at the Du Monde for begniets and coffee and pick up a paper before boarding.

Does this get tossed to "Railfanning"?

Be nice, Sandy!

This could be a younger poster. We don't want to discourage him with any snide or snarky comments.

Nope, it leaves New Orleans too late for breakfast in the diner. Lunch and dinner on day 1, and all 3 meals on day 2 were in the diner and were all fine.

BTW, the day I rode the Sunset it arrived in LA about 30 minutes early. But sleeper passengers can stay on board until 6 AM so that was not a problem.
