The jacks are 12 1/2 ton portable electric car jacks manufactured by the Whiting Corp of Monee, Ill 60449. They were built in 1987. Serial #s MXV -116 to 123. Our broken jack is # MXV-121.

The needed part is called a Winsmith 8CVDMW reducer. A new replacement part exceeds the funds available. I am hopeful of finding a used replacement part out there.

A little more information please on what your part is. I rebuilt the mechanical portions of 35 ton jacks and did not see such. An electrician of the railroad replaced all of the electrical components and was able to save a lot of money using his own sources. I bought Whiting parts when I had to, but was able to rebuild many of them.

steamerdave,

Here are some images. Please PM me and I can put you in touch with someone who has more details about the damaged reducer.

Mike,

We've already talked to Winsmith.

Sorry Wesley, I assumed you meant the price from Whiting with their markup was too high, and I thought maybe buying the parts directly from the manufacturer might be with in your budget. Good luck with your search.
