Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has determined that a 1931 wood sided insulated boxcar in our possession is no longer required for our purposes and is available for sale or trade. The car formerly operated for Libby's foods. Length is 40'. For further information contact Scott Becker at PTM, 724-228-9256. The car is offered "as is, where is" and is in need of body repairs. It is not capable of movement on its own wheels.

I think it is on live rail, so it should be fairly easy to load it on a flat car.

When you say it cannot move on its own wheels, I presume that means "in interchange." If it really is fixed in place that would mean a lot of axle and bearing work.

Being a wood sided private car, I imagine it would have been a billboard car of some kind. That should generate some interest, perhaps at the Age of Steam? It may have looked like this:

This car is on trackage belonging to PTM but which is connected to the P&OC RR. It is not fixed in place but has been moved about often during PTM ownership. It would not be acceptable in interchange due to solid bearings and a long out of date air brake COT&S date. Previous plans to move the car included moving it to a position from which it was to be loaded on a semi-trailer. That same process could have been used to put it on a flatcar, less trucks. The car was at one time a "billboard" car, but there is little evidence of that logo, etc. left now. Photos are available, contact Scott Becker at PTM, 724-228-9256.

Another Libby's-lettered model. I have no idea if the car offered by Pennsylvania Trolley Museum was once like this.
