The Lincoln Depot Museum, a non-profit in Peekskill, New York, is scheduled to open to the public this spring. The governing Foundation is seeking the donation of a pair of rail cars for use as additional exhibition space. The museum is housed in the town's historic 19th century railroad depot, a stopping-point for Abraham Lincoln as he traveled the rails from Springfield, Illinois to Washington, D.C. to assume the Presidency in February 1861. The museum will commemorate this event as well as interpret Abraham Lincoln's relationship with the State of New York.

Ideally, the Foundation is seeking the donation of a steel boxcar and caboose — but will entertain other options. The cars would be positioned in front of the museum and provide a greeting-point for visiting school groups. The depot is located directly beside the main rail line operated by CSX/Amtrak/Metro-North that runs between New York City and Albany. In addition, the property contains a siding no longer attached to the main line, but long enough to hold a pair of cars.

ANY help to obtain rolling-stock that will insure a lasting resonance to this venue is tremendously appreciated. Please address any suggestions or offers to Jonathan Mann: info@railsplitter.com. Thank you.
