PLEASE UPDATE THIS:

GN #1273 "Pend Oreille River" transferred to CB&Q #1273 in 1953.
To Lake Superior Railroad Museum at unknown date. Leased to the
Lake Shore Chapter NRHS and located in North East, PA.

Never, never, never owned by Lake Superior Railroad Museum. Lake Shore Railway Historical Society(LSRHS) of North East, PA, bought car directly from railroad. The "Lake Shore chapter" is a sub-set of Lake Shore Railway Historical Society--- the chapeter was never an entity capable of own anything--the "society" has/always had the state charter, etc. Any reference in any source that lists "Lake Shore Chapter NRHS" as an owner of anything is not correct. Car IS / has been at Lake Shore Railway Museum in North East, PA.

GN #1251 "Lake Wenatchee" to Amtrak #8068 (reconfigured to 48 seats).
Retired and sold to Lake Shore Chapter NRHS in North East, PA.

Same comment as above regarding Lake Shore chapter...

BOTH cars were painted in late August/early September 2013. Picture attached.

Okay, finally got around to doing some digging for the ID of that mystery BN car in Bothell that had previously been part of the Tukwila location of Andy's Diner.

The car in question was built by Budd in 1937 in Lot #981 as FW&D 52 seat coach (chair) #403 "Silver Top". One of four such cars (#400-#403) assigned to Denver-Dallas service. All four were transferred to the new Texas Zephyr in 1940, with the #403 reconfigured to a coach-dinette at that time. Coaches #400-#402 were renumbered to CB&Q #4658-#4660 in 1969. Concurrently, coach-dinette #403 was again reconfigured to a snack bar coach and renumbered to CB&Q #342.

Country Village is also home to GN caboose #X549 and SP&S caboose #793.

Pend Oreilli River was an early Amtrak-compliant car, painted in the Phase One Amtrak scheme, when Amtrak decided it wanted ALL cars operating on it's trains to be so painted, Amtrak-owned or not. For at least several trips, if not a few years, it was part of the excursion consists operated by Steam Tours, Inc./Allegheny Railroad Co. with RDG 2102 and other engines. It was a first-class car on the Oct. '76 excursion I rode over Horseshoe Curve behind the '02. BTW, great job by Lake Shore Chapter on the recent re-paint back to GN colors.

I'll see if I can do the homework and report back, however, we bought the trucks from one of the 111X series cars from Gateway about two years ago. They had a storage car leftover from the Les Kasten days that they scrapped and saved the trucks. I want to say we traced it back and it was the 1111, but that doesn't jive with the list. They also had a pair from a C&NW car that went to BN MOW IIRC.

I'll see if I can find my notes this weekend.

Black River & Western has 2 GN lightweight passenger cars (numbers are unknown to me) that were sold to the CNJ in the 70's and later became New Jersey Transit property before being purchased by BR&W in the 1990's. I'm not quite sure what the BR&W's intent for them was but I do know it wasn't for passenger use, but whatever it was, the plans fell through and they are currently sitting in the South Ringoes Yard. I believe they are both 48-Seat cars.

I'll be back soon with the rest of the GN lightweight roster listings.

A good bit of research there, but that's not the car I was referring to in my previous postings. I was referring to the smoothside passenger car (labeled as a GN coach and painted in BN colors) which is located on the south side of Country Village, somewhat hidden behind a couple other buildings, next to the courtyard and the fountain: https://www.google.com/maps/search/country+village+bothell/@47.781739,-122.2225877,69m/data=!3m1!1e3

Ah-ha!

This would be GN 60 seat coach #1212, which is listed by Randall as being sold to Andy's Diner. The retirement date listed is 1971, but the year of sale to Andy's is not. As evidenced by the linked photo below, the #1212 was initially leased to Amtrak, but was not acquired. After the lease was terminated (at an unknown date), BN sold the #1212 to Andy's.

http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1892708 (Ryan Kertis Collection)

Does anyone have a full or partial listing of cars Amtrak leased from BN, but did not acquire?
