Several cars are missing from the TSRR roster also.

There is a heavyweight long distance coach, #50, this car is used for special movements only.

Another combine #60, it and #61 both of Santa Fe heritage

In the boneyard behind the Rusk shop are a third former Santa Fe combine,
Southern Business car #19, a former PRR baggage mail car used for the Memorial day trains, a streamlined Southern sleeper, and at least one more heavyweight car. At Palestine is a former T&P business car, and a wooden former Great Northern Baggage RPO.

Thanks, The Man, for the info on PRR #8427!

PRR POS211 2DR-1C-1DB 25 seat buffet lounge observation (blunt end) #8427 William Wallace Atterbury (P-S, Lot #6792, Plan #4134, 1949, one of seven)--operated as parlor #7155 from 11/1957 to 6/1958. Does anyone know the SLRG number??

Thanks, elueck, for the info on the TSRR roster!

The Southern sleeper is 10RM-6DB #2011 Rivanna River (P-S, Lot #6814, Plan #4140, 1949, Crescent)--to Amtrak #2865 (1979) to Al Nippert-Gator Rail (1983) to TVRM to TSRR. For more info, see the "Surviving SOU Lightweight Cars" thread: http://www.rypn.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=35551

Thanks ETA and Stuart for the confirmation on Frisco 1506. It's a shame they altered the structure and appearance of the car.

Is the jury still out on whether or not SOU 1204 and 1205 were acquired by Iowa Pacific and if CALA 1885 "L.L. Crawford" is one of these?

Ah-ha! My mistake! Hmm...so does anyone know the history of TSR #70?

Open air car #70 was built for the International & Great Northern as a lounge car (don't have a date handy). It became Missouri Pacific, then into MOW service as MP #4084. The car was completely gutted when it showed up here, and was converted to an open air car.

Copied from post by Earl Knoob (TSR's GM) over on the narrow gauge board.

Thanks, Bulby, for the info on TSR #70!

sou2404--

Iowa Pacific did indeed acquire the #1885 L.L. Crawford along with the #1903 S.A. Beasley (SOU #1649/#1066).

As for the #1885 being either SOU #1204 or #1205, here's two photos for comparison:

SOU #1205 (with the name L. Jack White): http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3271308 (Jerry LaBoda Collection)

CALA #1885: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2846351 (Jonathan Hinely photo)

I'm not a Southern expert, so I can't say with certainty that the #1885 is the #1204 or #1205, but I'm leaning that way. Someone who is familiar with SOU heavyweights can confirm or deny that this is the case.

Now the question is, can we take what Earl gave us and figure out when it was built/lot/plan?

First off let me say that this has proven to be a great thread and it has been a real pleasure to read so I could get caught up... not to mention many great new links for the Index!!!

Quote:
Turquoise Room short dome #501 Plaza Laguna...

One thing to keep in mind when dealing with this series of dome cars is that the Plaza names were tentatively assigned but never applied while in service on the Santa Fe.

Quote:
(I haven't figured out which car became #101, and which car became #103.)

Except that someone can get into the cars to see if the builder plates are still on one of the car's bulkheads we may never know which car is which.

Quote:
I don't know if these two cars are actually owned by Iowa Pacific. Both appear on the High Iron Travel website (http://www.highirontravel.com/) with Caritas, Scenic View, Sky View, and Pontchartrain Club.

At the bottom of the High Irons page it says: "For corporate information, contact Iowa Pacific Holdings." so it would appear that High Irons is affiliated some way with IP.

Quote:
Former Adirondack Scenic open-air (windowless) coach Kayuta:... Does anyone know the history of this car??

SLRG 1062 ex-RPCX 5067 Little Rapids, ADIX 5067 Little Rapids, nee-CN 5067 Canadian Car & Foundry Canadian Flyer coach, licensed by Pullman Standard. The car was one of two versions of these cars with the later cars having sealed windows instead of the bolted on window frames common to the Pullman - Bradley cars. All road on six-wheel trucks for better ride quality.

Quote:
We're pretty sure that 1506 did a tour with Royal American Shows, also.

Doubtful... the car that was used was L&N Kentucky Club, exx-PULL Kentucky, nee-Mt. Langford, now at the Florida RR Museum...

Quote:
You've got the two cars confused. The car in the Flicker Photo is indeed the Cafe-Obs #1511, ex Santa Fe, that is still in that form on the TSR and still numbered 1511....but at the other end of that same consist in the flicker photos, is the OPEN car #70 (photo below courtesy of TSR Facebook page) that appears to also be a former Pullman Obs Car of sorts - but NOT from the Santa Fe, as the Cafe Obs is.

This car previously saw use on the Sierra RR. as SERA 2901 Overland, ex-Morgan Railcar, exx-Central Coast RR Club Ferroequinologist, exxx-SP, nee-CP, a cafe - lounge observation.

Really hard to say without looking inside. Unlike the later rebuilds these early cars had no distinctive differences compared to the 1000-series coaches.

The 2nd unknown Southern coach in Lancaster (Carolina Southern) is 1204. 1066 was shipped out back in early 2012. The former L&N coach in Conway was to be scrapped, however it was still there when we left in April of 2012, however it had been stripped of all useable parts.

Thanks, Jason, for identifying the CALA #1885 L.L. Crawford as the SOU #1204!

SLRG 5461 did not go to MRLX. The car was purchased by Iowa Pacific, the MRLX COT&S markings were only used for the air test. There were a handful of cars that have this COT&S marking, and none of the SLRG cars that may have MRLX COT&S markings were owned by MRLX, as I was the one who marked them that way.
