Not muddied at all!

Does anyone know who acquired the Pacific Slope from MRLX??

Amtrak converted both Pacific and Pine series 10-6 sleepers to dormitories, including Pacific Slope, but the Pine Cavern was not among those converted.

AT&SF #1622 Pine Cavern to Amtrak #2713 to HEP #2984 stored in 1995. Sold at unknown date to Wisconsin & Southern #2984 and renamed Notre Dame.

So it would seem that when the Pine Cavern was retired, the name plates were removed and later applied to the Pacific Slope when that car was converted to a dormitory!

Pacific Slope was never owned by Mid America/MRLX - the buyer arranged to use our reporting marks when the car was purchased from Amtrak back in 2006. The car is now owned by a party in Texas as I understand it.

I'm still considering the different options in terms of collating the data and making it available. The basic advantage of an online format being the ability to update and correct said database on a regular basis.

Perhaps someone can answer a Pacific series question...

I attach a photograph of Pacific Beauty... taken a few years ago in Madison Il....

I don't recall ever seeing a Pacific series car ( let alone Pacific Beauty ) with this God Bless America graphics on the side...

If you look at the picture and the way the graphic has aged, it looks like it could have run in Amtrak revenue service this way....

Does anyone know when or why this graphic was applied.. and for that matter, did it ever run in Amtrak revenue service with this on its side... and was it ever applied to another car...?

Interesting photo, Dean!

Did some looking via Jerry's site for photos of the Pacific Beauty in Amtrak service.

August 1995: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3563163 (Rick Morgan photo)

Linked photo shows the bedroom side of the car (Dean's photo is of the hallway side), no sign of said lettering, which I noticed is located where "Amtrak" is usually placed.

Also, I noticed a slight difference in how the blue and red have weathered/faded, it appears that when the "God Bless America" lettering was added, that the entirety of those sections of the blue and red bands were repainted.

My guess, someone applied the lettering after acquiring the Pacific Beauty from Amtrak, which is listed as sold in 2001.

I had noted the Pacific Beauty as acquired by the Friends of the 261 (NSRX)--can anyone confirm this?

The Pacific Beauty is now owned by Canadian Northern RY LLC as CNRX #2880 (not #2660 as previously reported) and used on Loram rail grinding trains.

That looks to be the shell of NYC 5DB sleeper 25 seat buffet lounge observation #10562 Fall Brook (Budd, Lot #9664-023, Plan #9506, 1949, low windows) sold in 1959 to CP and renamed Eastview sold in 1969 to United Railroad Supply (Montreal) later to private ownership #800057 Monterey, then Casablanca Fan #800057 City of Pasadena, then to ANSCO Colorado, painted in D&RGW Aspen Gold. Sold to Sokolski Zephyr, then to Les Kasten, burned while stored.

Pacific View was directly purchased by myself. MRLX never owned the car. I had arranged to use the MRLX reporting marks for the move out of Beechgrove. I was awarded the car by Amtrak in the last week of August of 2003 if I remember correctly.
