The stoker will be a godsend to the guys when she goes on the main line. That should also minimize the necessity of cutting coal.

IIRC 4501 has a 3 chime. Sweet pitch that carries very well. Plenty of youtubes out there.

Southern Railway 3-chime step top with a top lever vertical valve. Cast at Lenoir City, TN and finish machined at the Southern shops in Princeton, IN.

Thanks for sharing that. Interesting to follow exactly what's going on in real time. Latest update from them states about 12:30 to 1 PM local "EST" will be the first break-in runs. As of now, they're making preparations.

From what I understand, the dual beam will be used on NS, while the "golden glow" will be used on TVRM trips.

Congratulations to the hard working folks at TVRM. Having not one, but TWO operable steam locomotives is a remarkable accomplishment!!!

NS/Casey T. just posted this to Facebook a few moments ago.....
"After a day of excursions during Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum's annual Railfest, Southern 2-8-2 #4501 and 2-8-0 #630 doubleheaded on their final run to East Chattanooga. Shortly after departing Grand Junction, the pair is seen here crossing Chickamauga Creek."

Just something pleasant to add (and yes, it's in Railfanning, too), likely written in the 1970s, as the original program was picking up momentum--two versions, one faster, the other slower, perhaps more soulful.
