I really liked the green one from SSERPXE TNEIRO. Didn't know they were still around :)

The funny thing is I've driven past this place countless times, even when it was still Andy's diner. But it simply didn't look like the kind of place that I wanted to risk spending hours in the bathroom afterward to go eat at (every time I've been skeptical looking at the outside of an eatery and I went in anyway, I've always seemed to regret not going with my gut - so to speak- and going to eat somewhere else). Maybe it looked totally different on the inside, but the outside sure didn't inspire confidence.

There was a place very similar to this in Vancouver near the old NP/MLW/SP&S depot, I wish it'd been in operation after I moved here (would have gotten a great view of trains along the old SP&S 'north bank' line). I watched most of the rolling stock there get bulldozed a few years back...

That's going to happen here sooner or later. In fact, I'm surprised it hasn't happened already, and when I saw there was a new post I was expecting photos of the demo.

Guys, this is the time to act! I know nothing about what the future holds, but that's a valuable piece of real estate, and sooner or later it's going to be sold. I rather doubt the new owner is going to say "I want to do a train themed restaurant."

If you're at all interested in preserving any of these cars, do it now, rather than crying in your ADM4 approved micro brew once they're scrapped!

Pictures:

Taken on Saturday, October 4th.

The cars which face the streetside (front) of the restaurant are, from south to north (left to right as seen in Glen's photo above): NP business car, MU commuter coach, 1 of 2 Oregon Electric coach trailers (all on the south side of the center building), and the Harriman coach (on the north side of the building). The other OE coach is also on the south side, but towards the rear, directly behind the other OE car.

As reported in the Surviving Pullman Heavyweight Sleeping Cars thread, the business car is the ex-NP #4 Gallatin River, exx-Pullman Newport, exxx-Puretest (renamed March to December 1936 for the Rexall Train), nee-Newport, Lot #4422, Plan #2502B, 1916, sold to NP in 1941.

There are 2 Oregon Electric coach trailers, OE #132 and #137. Unknown which one is which.

First OE car, which is not on the streetside (front) of the restaurant, but around back along the south parking lot:

The Andy's Diner car is one of three Pullman charter cars built to the same plan in 1916. Interestingly, all three survive. "Manhattan" is now "Tennessee", restored and owned by Gulf & Ohio Railways and domiciled in Knoxville. "Palm Beach", once purportedly owned by Mary Pickford, is at the Tennessee Central Railroad museum in Nashville in original condition needing restoration. The Andy's Diner car is the "Newport".

Yes. All four cars survive. The Roald Amundsen is owned by the City of Scottsdale, Arizona and is on permanent display at the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park. It is regularly open for visitation.

Ted -

Saw a note in a story about the Pullman National Monument in todays Chicago Tribune that seemed to indicate that the "Advance" would end up in Chicago after restoration efforts. The 1911 built car had been used by Robert Todd Lincoln when he was chairman of the board of the Pullman Palace Car Company. No info about where the car would be located at the National Monument.
