For sale, (or other arrangements/consideration, perhaps):

Boston & Maine 72249, 1930 built XM-1 single-sheathed 40-ft boxcar. Has AB brakes, 5x9 plain journals, E couplers, mix of cast iron and steel wheels. Wood sheathing is about 50% good, roof is good, one steel side door is off the car and will be provided with the car. Needs a good scrape and paint, and some minor metal repair, and would be a good car for a photo freight and/or storage car. Located at NAUG/RMNE in central Connecticut. Will have to be trucked, which is not too difficult for this size car. Pics and info on request.

Contact me via PM, please.

I guess I'm just a bit curious as to why RMNE is getting rid of this car. Seems to be in decent shape and has a New England "connection".

RMNE has two of these, and this was considered an extra. Yes, we're doing some "culling of the herd". We don't have unlimited track space, or lots of room to build lots more track.

Thanks for info. Track space is a problem at a lot of museums, including ours. Certainly hope you find a taker for B&M #72249. A nice car.

I've got to ask, but was that steel door a Norton's addition?
