A May 23, 2017 article about the Memory Junction Railway Museum (wikipedia) in Quintenews:
Quote:
Ralph and Eugenia Bangay opened the Memory Junction Museum back in 1993, and have welcomed some 3,000 visitors a year to enjoy the various railroad artifacts dating from the very beginnings of train travel.

However, the Bangays are getting on in years, and Memory Junction has become too much for them to operate so it will remain closed this season.

I did a quick search of RYPN and did not find any existing threads about Museum. I did find two old threads about CN #2534:
Um, where's the rest of the steam loco? *PIC* from 2004
and
CN 2-8-0 from 2005.

Here's a newspaper article from August 3, 2015, describing vandalism at the Museum::
Quote:
Brighton - History keeps repeating itself and the owner of Memory Junction Museum wants it to stop.

Ralph Bangay is fed up with the vandalism that has taken place on his property and the latest incident, a broken window in a rail car that houses historical material about Brighton, had him thinking it was time to cut short his season long before he usually does, the end of September.

And another newspaper article from July 29, 2016:
Quote:
Brighton – The Memory Junction Museum of Brighton is facing its hardest year yet, says owner and curator Ralph Bangay.

Community support is needed desperately.

“I fear the days of volunteering are almost over,” said Ralph.

The curator worries what this means for the future of the museum.

(Edited to add:) There is a Friends of Memory Junction Museum group on Facebook.

Sad to see this happen. I got to know Mr Bangay a bit last year and he is a wonderful person, full of great stories. The sad thing is the museum is in a small town with a very limited source of volunteers (sound familiar?) and they also suffered from several incidents of vandalism in the past couple of years. With only 4 or 5 people, limited funds, and constantly spending time repairing damage done by people with nothing better to do, it's hard to keep going. One of the great assets of this museum is it is right beside the very active Toronto to Montreal / Ottawa main line with something like 80 passenger and freight trains each day from CN, CP, and VIA. Hopefully they'll find a way to keep going.

What this needs is new blood. Community involvement to reinvigorate the whole place. Fresh ideas and activities. Not same old, same old. It must involve and appeal to the whole community not just a few old rail types.

2 or 3 years ago there was a local event taking place for the whole town and people got involved cleaning up and sprucing up the place, young and old alike. More of this is what will allow it to prosper and grow. Facebook, website, and similar things relevant to people TODAY not just relevant to the past.

Any idea where Canadian National Railway Co. No. 2534 was moved to?

It was purchased by a private individual and moved to a farm just east of Uxbridge, Ontario a couple of months ago.
