The original poster didn't have one on his site, but I've put in a request to see if such a link is available.

Apparently, car 41307 was lost! The new owner put out a request on Facebook asking for friends to look for the car in CSX's Oak Island yard - I'm afraid I don't know where that is. Whoops!

Sounds like typical CSX to me... so many stories about cars traveling thousands of miles out of the way (including running back to the station of origin after traveling hundreds of miles in the right direction)... no surprise to me.

Newark, NJ, east of the "NEC". Built by the Lehigh Valley just after the turn of the 20th Century and now part of Conrail Shared Assets Operations.

Hardly a new phenomenon or unique to CSX.

I once had a car broker tell me of a non-standard passenger car he was shipping from suburban Chicago to Montreal that, in spite of the proper UMLER RFID tags, waybilling, etc., ended up in Elko, Nevada--wrong direction, wrong railroad.

And I, too, have had to literally go searching a railroad yard from towers or even on foot, or even a railroad, for a lost car on behalf of a client.

Any idea about what happed to the flatcars? I've heard that Amtrak bought most or all of them as MOW cars.

Just over 25 minutes ago, as seen from the webcam, a northbound manifest on CSX's ex-RF&P line passed through Ashland, VA, with #41307 near the end of the train (53rd out of 54 total cars). The power was #3215 and #455. No clue on the train symbol, or where it's headed.

EDIT: I just noticed this is the car that apparently had/has gone missing; I was wondering why it was headed north, as I think this car should be headed towards Georgia, not away from the Peach State! (Is the owner still trying to track it down, or does he know what train it's currently part of?)

Nothing unusual here... we are talking about CSX after all...
