After 89 returns to service, is 475 next to go into the shop? Or will all three locomotives be in service?

I believe that all three will be in service until the end of the year, then #475 will be due for her 1472 SDI. She will be turned around quickly since her greater pulling power makes her handier than #89.

On the throttle, do you have any problem with the braze steam cutting?

Despite what you would think, the answer is no. We have only been doing it for a couple of years, but on the two throttles we have brazed, they are being found to be in better condition and needing less lapping at annuals than the iron seats that they replaced.

I love the 80's musical reference in the background.

I wondered if anyone would pick up on that.

Linn handles any #20 news himself.

Once #475 is done with her 1472 - what then? Is #90 due for major repairs after that? Or will a lot of the focus/manpower be turned elsewhere in the shop once #475 is done?

Well....
In addition to #475's 1,472 SDI this winter, Thomas will have his tires turned and the fireman's side inside side sheet replaced. #90 is good for another 4 or 5 years before her 1,472 SDI is due. If finances permit, perhaps we will get back to #31. Most of all the rest of the time is filled with contract work.

Then here's to hoping that finances do indeed permit! I'll surely come out and take another ride or few...

I know that, but face it, if you only have one more project you can do before the world ends due to the cancellation of the Paris Accords, you may as well do something neat. Anyway, I'd like to ride in the cab once to see what it feels like to be at the center of rotation :-)
