And thank you for the kind words!

What's most interesting is that Thompson was built as a workhorse 12-1. She's apparently now more like a PV; I wonder when the rebuilding was done.

The Thompson was withdrawn from Pullman lease in May 1950 so it likely was fairly recent after it was withdrawn that the work was started to convert the car to a business car. Definitely a beautiful car... CGW and CNW had reason to be proud as does the current owners!!!

Wonder if they will be painting the 41307 will be painted to match the Dearing? It will be interesting to see what they do with the car...

A history of the Thompson / Dearing can be found on this AAPRCO page.

Intriguing update:

Stock Car 60010 and at least one eight-wheel car with windows in more or less original configuration were spotted on July 4th southbound on the former SR through Ashburn, Ga................ with spray-painted NS reporting marks under the still-extant RBBB logos.

So did NS just get into the circus-car game?

NS bought some cars just for the trucks.

From what I have been told NS was one of the Class 1 railroads that bought a majority of the parts that were in Palmetto and Ellenton.

NS's MOW crews still use old passenger cars (the dine out of Altoona looks like it belongs in the executive fleet), so I wasn't shocked to hear of this.

Two more circus cars have surfaced at their new home. BNSF has acquired RBBX 41402 and 41404 and has had them shipped to Topeka. Both were shot by Jeff Carlson on June 30th...

Wonder what they will do with them???

Very nice...these two cars always "stood-out" as among the best-looking in the RBBX fleet. Glad to see they'll be continuing on...

Report from Altoona, Pa. confirms that former elephant cars 60019 and 63009 were acquired by Norfolk Southern strictly as parts sources for other business cars, primarily rebuilt six-wheel trucks.

The Elephant cars mentioned above did have all of their circus lettering painted over, including the car numbers, even though Norfolk Southern seems to have given them the same numbers.
