Sturm & Dillard Company #106 currently resides at the Pickaway County Fairgrounds in Circleville, OH, about 30 miles south of Columbus. Apparently the fair board says it is no longer part of their future plans and want it to find a new home, preferably locally. They seem to want to avoid it being scrapped and are not is a great hurry but want it gone by late 2018. It is available for free but new owner must pay for transportation.

I have seen this locomotive but not for many years. It is not in great cosmetic shape but does not appear to be stripped. Has been in the open for many many years and not kept painted. If anyone needs detailed photos of it, I can see what I can do as pass nearby to it every month or two.

Sister 0-6-0 #105 is at the Age of Stem Roundhouse, 0-4-0T #100 at an antique shop in Olmsted Falls and 0-6-0 #102 displayed at a flea market in Hubbardston, MA.

We made a proposal for it and to return it to operation but were told they wanted it to stay local.

I guess that hasn't panned out. If so I would think they would have gone down the list... if they had made one.

A call on Monday is in order lol.

We also offered a good home for it with the potential to operate but they clearly want it all on their terms, may as well have put a price on it too.......

Unbelievable. They want to get rid of it but only under very specific circumstances.
Queue the people with the torches for this time next year...

If you look at the notes on the Steam Locomotive Information entry I posted earlier, you will find this:

"Posted: 2017-08-31 14:51:18.32 by Jason Coatney
We have started a group to try and keep the locomotive in Circleville."

No indication given of who the "we" is.

Has anyone heard anything on this engine? I heard she may be headed for the Hocking Valley.

When we called back in Nov. we were told there was some interest locally and that the intent was to keep her local. I told them if it came down to the engine needs to leave now or gets cut up, call me and I would have a truck there in 10hrs.

We will see what happens.

The Allentown and Auburn in Kutztown, PA announced today via Facebook that they have acquired the engine. I will not begin to speculate as to whether or not they have plans for operation, but the post can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/AllentownandAuburnRailroad/posts/1636475166418078

#106 will be restored to operation following its recent evaluation and is being currently prepped for transport back home. I spoke with Bast about it not too long ago, looks like all is perfectly sound. May they be blessed with good fortune in the future ahead.

These is a neat operation, with a lot of creatively themed trains and obviously looking to expand their offerings.

The Allentown & Auburn has a nicely painted two bay Reading open top hopper car as part of their freight equipment roster. They also have a 40' steel Central Railroad of New Jersey box car that hopefully will also be restored one day. They apparently also have another steel box car with a tall roof top brake wheel, but I haven't been able to find any info on it. I saw a Big Jim Video of a visit to the ALLN by one of the Gramling locomotives in 2017, and there was a short segment where they were shoving the three cars around. But no info on the "second" box car, which is also not as tall as the CNJ car previously mentioned. Anyone have any idea as to the railroad history of this other boxcar?
