NKP 2-8-2 #639, on display at Miller Park in Bloomington, IL. There are no funds to care for the locomotive and it's starting to show signs of severe rusting.

I don't see Bloomington pulling a Port Arthur, but it has been 30 years since I lived there so who knows. I do know there are several railfans in the city, including one who was a photographer for the Pantagraph newspaper at one time, so if a crane and a wrecking ball show up at the park out of the blue some day I think there would be h*ll to pay for the city government.

We had an extensive discourse on the GTW 4-6-2, not too long ago. It followed a youthful enthusiast wanting to "new build" GTW5629.

New builds? Park engine preservation? How often they come in pairs!

The MoPac 10 wheeler in Paris, Arkansas is supposed to be moved to another part of town and cosmetically restored, if the money can be raised. The city council apparently approved the plans, so we will have to see. At the very least the locomotive is not 'endangered'.

Just because a locomotive looks run down or a little rusty does not mean it is neccisarily at serious risk of immanent scrapping.

In my opinion, if a locomotive is added to this list, more real evidence should be provided than foamish speculation based on a years-old photo pulled from the internet, where it 'looks' to be in poor shape.

UP #423 in Gering, Ne may be neglected, but not in danger. Most towns in Nebraska value their railroad heritage even if they can't afford asbestos removal or a new paint job.

I will nominate this hapless 0-6-0F mention in this thread:

Still there last I checked; its sister 0-6-0F got scrapped near Lewisburg, Pa. a few years ago.

This locomotive is in the parking lot across the street from the Alaska Railroad Depot. it's much photographed and far from endangered. It had considerable work done around 1990 and it was said that it could have been operated if the boiler had been replaced. It is due for another cosmetic restoration.

802 was the Isthmus Canal Commission number. See John's Alaska Railroad page for details. http://www.alaskarails.org/pix/former-loco/JC-arr1.html

If you know what you are looking at, the spacer between the cylinders to convert from three foot to standard gauge is obvious.

Unless you know something I don't know, this is not an appropriate locomotive for the list. While it might be true that the restoration will not be completed it is a huge leap to suggest that it is in danger of being scrapped or destroyed in someway. Additionally, this locomotive is entirely indoors.

The purpose of this list is to highlight steam locomotives in danger of being lost completely. If we start including engines that do not fit that description or just because it will not be restored by the current owner this list loses all meaning and will be ignored.

I have been told by multiple people I know that the management of the organization that owns this particular locomotive couldn't care less about the steam locomotives in their custody, and are hostile to the idea of doing anything with them other than let them sit and collect dust/rust. The people who have informed me of this comprise of both current and former volunteers, (many of the latter being driven away in recent years due to the abrasiveness of this organization's management) as well as those who live in the surrounding area.

This can be discussed elsewhere.

I am well aware of the purpose of this list, and I will admit that I debated adding her to the list. I also admit that I may be overreacting, but keeping in mind the attitude of her guardian's leadership as well as some other events relating to this organization, my gut tells me that this locomotive is essentially in limbo.
