Is there any current info on this loco? Search didn't turn up anything since 2016. I hope they managed to get it straightened out and back together. IIRC there was a similar 0-6-0 stored in Hagerstown, MD back in the 1960s

Hicks Car Works posted a photo in June of last year, with no noticeable change since the crash.

Dave - The New York Central 0-6-0 at Hagerstown is now at Whitewater Valley in Connersville, Indiana. Not yet cosmetically restored.

Engine doesn't look too bad, but man that tender needs help.Utica and Mohawk said what they are going to do, or is this still tied up in red tape?

Last I heard they're still sorting out the insurance.

Well, these pics were taken this past Sunday afternoon. Amazing to see the damage to the tender frame.

Wow! Can the frame even be put back to a reasonable facsimile of the way it was along with the rest of the locomotive?

Looking at the damage, I can not imagine what that amount of kinetic energy would have done to the station. Going to need a pretty big weld on that loco frame. Could be tough so close to the steam chest. Too bad they could not get the broken parts into the tender.

Woof. I dont think there is any fixing those bends. It looks like the engine has a bit of an arch to it as well..

To make correct repairs, she'd need to have the boiler removed from the frame, the frame removed from the saddle, and a lot of heavy work done. Not easy to justify it for a static display. Incorrect repairs - pretty much just sort of getting things semistraightened out and then cobbling them together enough to not fall apart under no stress beyond gravity is possible, but lousy. This is a tough situation and unlikely to produce a desirable result.

I don't recall right off if it was a possible restoration candidate before but surely highly unlikely now.

When the hopper hit the engine, was there something blocking the backward movement of the tender?

I hate to kill optimism, but the visible damage is enough to warrant a full trip to the backshop just to have it in a reasonable appearance. I know the UK is good at bringing wrecks back from the dead, but this would definitely seem to be a step too far.

The station building (or at least an adjacent stairwell) tried, and partially succeeded, to stop the offending motion...
