The Colorado Railroad Museum has received three power and passenger cars from the Broadmoor Pikes Peak Cog Railway, formerly the Manitou & Pike’s Peak Railway. Nos. 7, 9, and 12 were trucked from Manitou Springs to the museum with one car arriving each day Feb. 14-16. The railroad donated the cars, with the museum only having to pay the cost of moving them to Golden.

7 is their first self powered railcar, originally powered by a cadallic Gas engine, built in 1938. 9 and 12 was the old Engine/Coach arrangement post self powered cars, before DMU's came in the 1950's. 9 was used in work service up to until they closed for renovation. Coach 12 I think has been stored as part of the historic fleet in the lower barn for years, only used for special events

Good for CRRM! Preserving M&PP is part of their mission.

CRRM currently has M&PP steam engine #1 and has displayed it on an angled track to demonstrate M&PP's grade. M&PP had originally donated #4 but CRRM traded #4 back to M&PP for #1. M&PP then overhauled #4 and placed it in service. Both #1 and #4 are Vauclain compounds.

folks,
The #7 was built in 1938 by the Midland Railroad Shops as a gas car. It was later given Diesel engines.

The #12 was built in 1946 by GE as a Diesel-electric car, it currently has Cummins 855 Diesels and two motors.

The #23 was re-built in the 1990s and also has the Cummins 855 Diesels.

Recent operations were with a fleet of Swiss built Diesel rail cars. I hope the raolroad re-opens next year.

According to the Trains Magazine Article, the railroad is scheduled to reopen in 2021.
I am glad I got to ride it in 2015!
