Maybe I’m just in a good mood, but isn’t this news quite favorable from a preservation perspective? Owners appreciate the historic value of the machine and - despite hoping otherwise - have come to find that they cannot afford its proper care. Thus, they are seeking a lessor who will care for - and operate - the locomotive.

Sounds like a decent plan.

I may have missed it earlier in the thread, but what’s the scuttlebutt on her condition? Is the next #1472 expected to reveal serious issues to remedy? Known knowns, not the unknown knowns that may be revealed.

Wasnt the museum looking to charge storage fees after the town "bought" the locomotive back? Besides the moving expenses I bet the town was hating the fact that those fees were just piling up.

Good news! 2719 will remain at the museum. And the city made a (small) profit!
