January 19, 2019

The CMRR held its annual volunteer and employee meeting. 66 people attended.


February 4,5,6,7,8,11,and 22

Earl Pardini, Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan, and Marjorie Van Kirk made repairs to engine 42 and did boltwork along the line.


February 16, 2019

The CMRR held its annual rules class. 21 personnel took and passed the class.

March 2019

In March our maintenance crews worked on general maintenance on engines 42 and 401 on March 9, 11, 19, 20, 25, 27, and 28. Crews consisted of Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini, Sam Cogan.

Vince Guido worked on the Section house on March 23rd and was assisted by Martin Elbrecht on March 30th.

Also on March 23rd and 30th we had track crews out doing boltwork and correcting defects on the line. Crews conisisted of John Marino, Sam Cogan, Bryan Van Kirk, Ken Harris, Dave Heick, Dylan Iurato, Hannah Kiersted, George Bain, Harrison Balduf, Bruce Tuchman, Raphel DeMeglio, Russ Hallock and Earl Pardini.

Also in late March, Linda Marino, Marcia Roosa, Karin Vogel and Hannah Kiersted started stuffing eggs for April's Easter Bunny Express.

April 2019

Engine Maintenance and 2918 Repairs. Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini and Sam Cogan worked all month on these projects with help from Marjorie Van Kirk, John Marino and Tom Whyte, which included swapping out the wheels on coach 2918. They worked April 1, 2,3,4,10,11,22, 23, 24, 27,29.

Vince Guido did work at the Easter Egg Patch.

Trackwork included loading ties and distributing them on April 5th, 12th and 18th, replacing bolts on April 9, 15,16,17,19th, and inserting ties on April 30th.

We operated three days in April - April 6, 13 and 20 and over 2200 customers rode the train, which went to the Easter Egg patch at Kenco and back again.

On April 6th, Bryan Van Kirk was engineer, with Marjorie Van Kirk conductor and Arthur Vogel brakeman. Sam Cogan, Ken Harris and John Marino flagged. Earl Pardini stopped by. Hannah Kiersted, Linda Marino, Karin Vogel, Peter Fluchere and Marcia Roosa assisted.

On April 13th, Dave Hilliard was engineer, with Marjorie Van Kirk conductor and Tom Whyte brakeman. MArtin Elbrecht, Harrison Balduf and Dylan Iurato flagged. Earl Pardini, John Marino and Bryan Van Kirk stopped by. Hannah Kiersted, Linda Marino, Karin Vogel, Peter Fluchere and Marcia Roosa assisted.

On April 20th, John Marino was engineer, with Karl Wick conductor and Bill Kaba brakeman. Sam Cogan, Russ Hallock flagged. Earl Pardini stopped by. Linda Marino, Karin Vogel, Peter Fluchere and Marcia Roosa assisted.

On April 27th we had a charter. Earl Pardini was Engineer, Karl Wick Conductor, Bill Kaba brakeman, Russ Hallock, Dylan Iurato and Franc Libihoul flagged. John Marino was trainman.

Wednesday May 1st

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan inserted 20 ties west of MP 6.67.


Thursday May 2nd

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan reomved 53 old ties west of MP 6.67.


Friday May 3rd

6 bundles of ties were loaded on the flat car on 209 and 45 ties were removed west of MP 6.7. Also work done on coach 2918. Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini and Sam Cogan were on the crew.


Saturday May 4th

John Marino led a track crew consisting of Earl Pardini, Bryan Van Kirk, Dave Heick, Russell Hallock, Sam Cogan, and Martin Elbrecht. They moved the scarifier to Hurley Mountain Road, inserted 45 ties and gauged and spiked 40.


Monday May 6th

Earl Pardini and Bryan Van Kirk replaced broken windows on engine 401, and worked on the scarifier. Sam Cogan removed another 52 ties west of MP 6.7.


Tuesday May 7th

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan did maintenance work on the backhoe and coaches 2940 and 2911. They installed a new window on Engine 42.

Wednesday May 8th

Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini and Sam Cogan dropped off 6 bundles of ties between MP 7 and 8 and made repairs to equipment.


Thursday May 9th

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan removed 30 old ties west of MP 7 and made equipment repairs.


Friday May 10th

Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini and Sam Cogan removed 25 old ties west of MP 7 and made equipment repairs.


Saturday May 11th

Earl Pardini led a track crew consisting of Bryan Van Kirk, Marjorie Van Kirk, Dave Heick, Russell Hallock, Ken Harris, and Martin Elbrecht. They put the scarifier back in service and inserted and spiked 35 ties.


Monday May 13th

Earl Pardini and Bryan Van Kirk made equipment repairs.

Wednesday May 15th

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan dropped inserted 25 ties and worked on the scarifier.

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan inserted 25 ties.


Friday May 17th

Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini, John Marino and Sam Cogan did track inspection and serviced MOW equipment.


Saturday May 18th

John Marino and Earl Pardini led a track crew consisting of Bryan Van Kirk, Marjorie Van Kirk, Vince Guido, Russell Hallock, and Martin Elbrecht. They inserted 42 and spiked 50 ties.

Monday May 20th

Tuesday May 21st

With help from Scott S, John Marino, Earl Pardini, Bryan Van Kirk, Tom Whyte, Ken Harris, Tom Comito, Vince Guido and Sam Cogan inserted 258 ties and spiked 101. This was between MP 6.7 and 7.2.

The CMRR inserted 892 ties this part week and spiked up over 500 of them. The track is now in service up to MP 6.95, up from MP 6.67. After spiking we should be in service up to MP 7 or further.

Wednesday May 22nd

Thursday May 23rd

With help from Scott S., John Marino, Earl Pardini, Bryan Van Kirk, Tom Whyte, Dave Heick, Russ Hallock and Sam Cogan inserted 320 ties and tamped and spiked 75. Joe Wolff continued painting caboose 675.


Friday May 24th

With help from Scott S., John Marino, Earl Pardini, Bryan Van Kirk, Tom Whyte, Vince Guido, Dave Heick and Sam Cogan tamped and spiked 125 ties. Track was opened to MP 6.95.

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, Earl Pardini was Engineer, Tony Bocchino was conductor, Bill Kaba was brakeman, Russ Hallock and Ken Harris were flaggers. Peter Fluchere and Marcia Roosa were ticket agents.


Sunday May 26th

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, John Marino was Engineer, Tony Bocchino was conductor, Art Vogel was brakeman, Karl Wick and Ken Harris were flaggers. Pat Smalley and Marcia Roosa were ticket agents. Karin Vogel was car attendant.


Monday May 27th

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, Bryan Van Kirk was Engineer, Tony Bocchino was conductor, Bill Kaba was brakeman, Dylan Iurato and Russ Hallock were flaggers. Jess Puccio was flagger trainee. Marcia Roosa was ticket agent.


Wenesday May 29th

Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan, Dylan Iurato and Earl Pardini spiked 75 ties. Track was opened to MP 7.

Friday May 31st

Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan and Earl Pardini spiked 96 ties and dropped six bundles of 20. Track was opened to MP 7.05.


Saturday June 1st

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, Bryan Van Kirk was Engineer, Karl Wick was conductor, Bill Kaba was brakeman, Dylan Iurato and Martin Elbrecht were flaggers. Peter Fluchere and Marcia Roosa were ticket agents.

Wednesday June 5th

The track crew inserted 231 ties and spiked about 100. Crew consisted of Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini, Tom Whyte, Ken Harris and Sam Cogan.


Thursday June 6th

The track crew inserted 185 ties and spiked about 50. Crew consisted of Bryan Van Kirk, Earl Pardini, Tom Whyte, Vince Guido and Sam Cogan.


Friday June 7th

Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan, Vince Guido and Earl Pardini inserted 83 ties and spiked 50. Track was opened to MP 7.25.


Saturday June 8th

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, Tom Whyte was Engineer, Tony Bocchino was conductor, Karl Wick was brakeman, Dylan Iurato and Russ Hallock were flaggers and Jess Puccio was flagger trainee. Peter Fluchere and Marcia Roosa were ticket agents.


Monday June 10th

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan moved equipment from the Dog Crossing to MP 7.85.


Tuesday June 11th

Bryan Van Kirk and Sam Cogan repaired the air compressor.

Friday June 14th

Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan, John Marino and Earl Pardini spiked 121 ties and replaced a rail. Track was opened to MP 7.35.


Saturday June 15th

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, John Marino was Engineer, Tony Bocchino was conductor, Bill Kaba was brakeman, Joe Wolff and Ken Harris were flaggers. Pat Smalley and Marcia Roosa were ticket agents.

Joe Wolff also painted the caboose.

Saturday June 22nd

On the Catskill Mountain Flyer, Earl Pardini was Engineer, Karl Wick was conductor, John Marino was brakeman, Martin Elbrecht and Dylan Iurato were flaggers. Paul Payton and Marcia Roosa were ticket agents.

Earl Pardini and John Marino unloaded 140 ties at 209 before traintime.


Monday June 24th

Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan, Dave Heick, Earl Pardini, Bruce Tuchman, John Marino and Vince Guido inserted 92 ties from MP 7.4 to MP 8 and spiked 74 ties.


Tuesday June 25th

Bryan Van Kirk, Sam Cogan, Dave Heick, Earl Pardini and John Marino inserted 38 ties and spiked 180 ties. They also unloaded 420 ties at 209 and distributed 260.


Wednesday June 26th

Earl Pardini, John Marino, Tom Whyte, Vince Guido, Sam Cogan, Dave Heick, Russ Hallock, Bryan Van Kirk and Bruce Tuchman inserted 240 ties, distributed 200 ties and removed OTM between MP 7.4 and MP8.
