I’m sorry to see this. But you can’t be angry at either Fishers or Indianapolis for the irresponsibility of ITM and how they operated and ran their business. As much as I hate seeing this, I can’t push the narrative of “local museum defenseless against city” idea.

Maybe one day Fishers in particular will see the error in their ways and maybe try to create a relationship with the new organization up north, operating from Atlanta to Noblesville. But until then, this part of line was subject to a tragic fate, by an organization that didn’t care for it until it’s last moments, and a suburb that was finally fed up with that organization and it’s wrongdoing.

Amen!

The auction format might be insane, and the requirements might be overbearing. But the warning is probably real, bid or they get cut.

If this was a real estate auction, the term "handyman special" would apply.

No one has bid anything for anything yet.

As a veteran of both live auctions and online "auctions," I could be pedantic and point out that neither Ozark nor eBay are properly, legally "auctions."

True auctions end when the bidding ceases, not when a clock runs out.

Professional online auctions of things like government surplus, industrial liquidations, etc, realize this, and some are obligated (by law in a couple cases, to meet the legal definition of an auction) to have software that automatically extends bidding 15 or 30 minutes after the last registered bid is posted. This avoids the frenzy of last-second "sniping" so popular on eBay, and gives bidders who may be bidding five or six figures in dollars or pounds the chance to catch breaths and reassess their desire and bids.

In an interview reported today at Trains Newswire, however, a representative of Ozark Mountain Railcar said:

Quote:
Susheck added, however, that it is normal for there to be no bids placed at this point in an auction. The auction got underway Monday morning and will conclude at 7 p.m. CST Wednesday, Sept. 11. Susheck says it's common for bidders to wait until near the end. “Every auction we've ever done has gone this way,” Susheck says. “Everyone is afraid if they place a bid now, someone would outbid them. It's always at the last minute that everyone places bids. It's kind of annoying, but that's the way it works.”

Two wood boxcars and one MILW reefer have their reserves met, a PRR boxcar has a $1000 bid but reserve not met, no one has bid on anything else, two hours left if they are using Central time I believe. I actually wonder if you are required to make a first bid of $1k on a boxcar with a $500 reserve price, someone may have overbid.

One more hour? Still shocked no one has bid on the two Fs, the cab unit needs a flywheel. The thing is the bulk of the cost is transporting them out of there, which would likely be roughly the same as the boxcars.

That's it. The good news is the Pennsylvania RPO, MILW reefer, and two wood boxcars all sold. Everything else is lost.

Sad to see the F units and the coaches and pullman go... but at least the RPO is safe and the wooden box cars.

Did anyone ever find out if the VO1000 or any other locomotives were moved off property? The spreadsheet says that many of the locomotives are still at Forest Park, but don't indicate that they are scrapped or sold. Some still say they are listed for sale, but I did not see the listing recently.

It's hard to find any good information at the moment.

None of the F units sold at the last auction. According to the last press release from Noblesville, they claimed their concentration is now on cleanup of Forest Park. This ultimately means some of what is there is getting scrapped according to the city. They seem to be hinting at the Milwaukee Road F7B unit and the old BN heater car. The F7B is said to be rotted out and very rough inside and out. The BN steam gen might have asbestos in it.

I've been wondering if the E&LS, Escanaba & Lake Superior might be interested in the Milw F7B and the Milw FP7 A 96-C??? E&LS has former Milw FP7 96-A, currently numbered #600. The three would make a great pair together.

Not sure if anyone has contacted the E&LS about the F units? http://www.elsrr.com/contact-a.htm

The Lackawanna m.u. cars among others i believe were at a satellite storage site (Forrest Park?) and were evicted for failure to pay.

So, it turns out that it is actually ITM moving the cars from their storage site (Cicero IN, north of Noblesville) to Longansport to be operated on the Logansport & Eel River, 1.7 miles, now isolated from the general system (a switch to the TP&W was removed by G&W a few years back), which ITM is in the process of buying for excursions. A discussion can be found at the end of this thread: http://indianarailroads.org/board/index ... c=21506.60

Still no reported disposition for the units, which is what we mostly care about.

Reportedly 15 pieces of equipment moved from Cicero, Indiana to Logansport. The equipment is NOT being put on live rail, but on hard gravel or a concrete pad, leased from a company in the area. Which means another move later. Would be nice if someone would furnish a list of exactly what has been moved from that Cicero location. Also, I haven't heard that ITM has finished the negotiations with the L&ER to acquire their 1.7 miles of railroad.
