There was once a photo of a B&O loco, blown to bits by rocketry from jets, in an old Trains Magazine.

Dragging up an old post, but does anyone know what the status of and where the #21 is now?

FYI, I stopped by the old Kettle Moraine site last year, there is nothing there. Just some concrete from where the shop building once stood.

The locomotive is in Oak Creek WI at an industrial site. The current owner is slowing doing some work to it.

Could you identify the specific location? Is it at RailWorks?

I too would be interested in knowing just where the locomotive is.
I'm about an hour north of there and am a little familiar with the area.

Unfortunately I do not know the exact location. I have been told it's not in view. I will see if I can find out any additional info.

The 22 was in the final stages of restoration for operation when Part 230 became law. The private owners did not want to sacrifice the new tubes and flues that they had just installed, as required for the newly mandated 1472 day inspection, so the restoration was completed as cosmetic. The locomotive is actually in very good condition and could, without Part 230, probably be steamed. Like the other LS&I 2-8-0's, this is a pretty beefy locomotive with all of the latest (mid-1930's) appliances, like feed water heaters and feed water pumps, etc. for maximum power.

It appears that #21 is now located in Ixonia, Wisconsin, stored behind the old Rollex plant.

Thanks for the update. Sounds as if the private owners of LS&I 21 haven't yet given up on its restoration, which is very good news. Photo's of the 2-8-0 in its current state of restoration, would be welcome.

Ixonia, we rented out there in 2014 for a couple of months before we bought our present home.
Interesting little burg with a lot of CP trains plus the 2 Builders passing by each day. It might be worth the drive to see if I can find her. Thanks for the update.

In looking at a recent Google Earth view of the area, there appears to be a tender and locomotive frame in the back of the plant along with a pair of trucks and two wheelsets. Looks like access to the area might be problematical. Didn't see anything of a boiler.

I assume the boiler is being stored inside.

The thing in the foreground is not a locomotive frame, but a flatcar. Note the hand brake. Likely the entire locomotive is indoors.

I can confirm that the most recent photo is just how she looked today when I walked down between the Post Office and former Rollex bldg. & turned left. First thing that I noticed was the tender, then the cab.

The car that parts are on was lettered for LS&I I believe.

This all sits right off of the CP main and right close to a spur that ends right at that site.

So do either the tender or the flat car sit on that siding, or even on rail? And does the spur go into the Rollex (or ex-Rollex) building?
