Due to the cost of repairing the swing bridge in Lewes, I understand this line was slated for abandonment. Does anyone know if the rails have been removed from this particular line? Also, does anyone know what weight rail was used on this line?

What a difference a few years can make (OK, 26 to be precise). As Joni Mitchell stated in her song, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone".

I was GM of the Queen Anne's RR and locomotive engineer from 1992-1997.

Most of the rail was 90lb, with some 85lb and 100lb here and there. The siding in Nassau, DE where we serviced our dinner train was 55lb rail.

(Notice our official Delaware surf fishing license plate on the pilot near the steam loco coupler. We were official!...........)

PS - One season I found a 5' tall stuffed Bugs Bunny in a dumpster and rescued him. He spent much of the season in the fireman's seat, leaning out the window, much to the dismay of many a railfan photographer.......

That's an incredibly neat little 0-6-0, what ever became of her?

Is the steam engine a US Army S100 0-6-0T?

I'm not going to swear it's absolutely a S100, as I understood there were some tiny differences among the military 0-6-0T's, but it IS ex-WW2 US military, ended up at Philadelphia Navy Yard, then at Wawa & Concordville, then Wilmington & Western, then Queen Anne's RR at Lewes before being sold to its current owner.

I have been told of several schemes to acquire her and return her to operation, but supposedly the current owner wants too much money for that to be feasible.....

It is certainly a center piece to the restaurant and an eyeball catcher as you drive down the road. Most years when we vacation at Dewy beach, we trek down to eat there; the food and service are good. The rail equipment seems to be maintained. However, when the day comes, should be an easy extraction from the site, just a fence between the locomotive and the road.

1/16/19, Delmarva Central Railroad removed 2 of the ex-DCLR B23-7's from the DCLR interchange in Georgetown and sent them north. They're reportedly headed to a new owner. The Alcos still remain on the old DCLR as far as I know.

In 2020, they could be the 2 Diesels in Pavonia, N.J., on their way to SMS Rail Lines in Pureland, N.J.

Queen Anne RR #3 and the New Haven coaches are now dolled up in daisy-picker livery.

Neat. At least they are being taken care of.
Didn't that line once run to the Coast Defense Fort? I think the fort once had "disappearing guns" which hydraulically would fold behind the barbette for protection of the crew during reloading. My father inspected those early in the war (WW2 that is) and had a funny story about what happened during the first firing of one when they forgot to replenish the hydraulic oil.
