Here's #800 in its true original livery as opposed to what you see in the black and white builder's photo. This picture might have some decent chip matching potential but I'm not doing that this morning... LOL

Ahh. The Train Master, the most useful locomotive ever built.

Many roads used their TM's in one service only but RDG and CNJ used their fleet to do almost everything. Here I think 800 is either working the Rutherford hump or trimming it. The PRR had through freight from PRR Hagerstown and transfers from Enola accounting for the PRR Cabin.

RDG TM's were mainstays of "crossline" WM Hagerstown-Allentown symbol freights, Bethlehem and NY Branch passenger and the Main Line name train "King Coal."

CNJ's TM's worked NY&LB passenger alongside PRR K4s engines as well as Allentown-JC freight and passenger. Only a TM could accelerate like a K4.

The brownish green was RDG's shifter color which they applied to road switchers as well.

I remember once seeing that happen at Telford on the RDG's Bethlehem Branch. Led by a Trainmaster, a passenger train made a brief stop to discharge a handful of commuters. The conductor waved a highball, and by the time he turned to climb aboard, the vestibule was 25 feet down the track. Fortunately, the brakie saw what happened and pulled the emergency cord. The embarrassed conductor skipped down the track and boarded, while the train sat there until the air was recovered.

For the Jersey Central dark green, the first one I'd look at is Chevrolet Forester Green, 93-62006, Plate #123 in the 1954 DuPont catalog. This is a bluish green which is about as dark as the Brewster so it can look very close to black in old pics as well...

The green does show quite well through the dirt here on CNJ SD-35 #2501 and the yellow is probably the same Kraft Yellow as on the Reading...

The CNJ called it deep sea green.

That would certainly make sense then, Phil. If Woodfield Green is really Seacrest Green, then Deep Sea Green would have to be Forester Green, right? LOL

Chevy Forester Green and GMC Brewster Green are adjacent to each other on the Sherwin-Williams Kem chart which makes for an easy comparison picture...

Here's the dual chip match with the Reading's GMC Morat Green...

The Sherwin-Williams chip sheet with the Borden colors arrived the other day but I'm still looking over stuff there. Borden Gray is slightly darker than Suede Gray. Borden Yellow is very close to Lipton Tea Yellow and a shade lighter than John Deere Yellow.

So far, I'm up to a possible four different yellows total for the Erie, the DLW, and the EL. I do have one of those positively identified through Eric's chart, though, and I'll get to that one here eventually.

But for right now, more Trainmasters!!!... LOL

In the Martin-Senour chip catalog, MS11517 is the equivalent of GMC Brewster Green, DuPont 93-2015. There does exist a darker Brewster, however, MS11518...

Not only could it be the BNSF's Charleston Green, but it would also explain why Conrail's OCS appeared slightly darker than Reading equipment...

I know it's fairly early for a Sunday morning but me does thinks this is the same color... LOL

It would be rather stunning if these two were just different shades of Brewster and it wouldn't be outside of the realm of what I can remember...

If you guys can't tell, I was taking a look at Erie #833 when this Brewster Green stuff started again. LOL I'll just have to keep the Pennsy thing open in the background for the time being like before. Here are the two Pullman-type greenish browns from the Martin-Senour chart for comparison although I still need to identify which is which...

The PPG code Eric has listed for the yellow in the two-tone green Erie scheme, 81998, also cross-references to DuPont 93-6808 so that one is known. Of course, I then had to start playing with the chips to try to ID the greens but I can't say I'm finished yet. This multiple matchup will probably take a few more tries on different pics just to be sure.

Chevy Juniper Green, 93-72001, is slightly greener than the Forester Green I stuck on the CNJ. 93-57332 is GMC Neptune Green...
