That's La Grande Station, The primary Santa Fe station for Downtown Los Angeles. It was built in 1893 and served until the opening of Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal in 1939.

I did not know the M.190 had any history in California. Nevertheless, the M.190 had been significantly modified since this photo, so that the articulated doodlebug that exists today is more significant to its current setting in New Mexico.

I believe that it made some test runs in the area. LA-San Diego and LA-San Bernardino are likely.

The M-190 is an interesting transitional concept. In one sense it helped Santa Fe toward the diesel locomotives of the late 1930s.
