I recently saw that Rail Merchants International sold a UP dining car that had been donated to the Mid-Continent Railway Museum a few years back. Anyone know who the new owner is, or of any plans for the car? I was able to view the interior of the car a few years back when it belonged to AEE, and it seemed pretty much original.

I should add a little more info on the car - It's former UP Diner 4811. A smooth side car built I believe in the 40's. I assume Mid-Continent got rid of it because it was too new for their collection. In the pix on the Rail Merchants web page, it's the dining car in Amtrak colors with freehand reporting marks "BAOX 4811". Any info anyone has would be appreciated.

Is it ex-UP #4811? I believe Illinois Transit Assembly Corp has it now. Here's text from their listing (there's no picture yet) UP 4811, former Amtrak 8096, ACF built 1949 as 48 seat diner. Smooth sided aluminum body. ISH 6x11 tread brake trucks. D-22 airbrake. "H" titelock couplers. No tables or chairs.

$16,000
