I've never had an honest offer made with good supporting information rudely rejected. Politely rejected, sure - but then the organizations I was dealing with were pretty professionally run and businesslike, and approached on similar terms. Choose your contacts and message with care. Don't waste your time with irrational people taking untenable positions - no matter how logical your offer may be it will get nowhere and isn't worth the trouble.
