Post subject: military surplus file cabinets?

Have you tried military surplus? Each state has an office/warehouse that stores/distributes military surplus stuff. Government agencies have first dibs on the surplus, but non-profits have second choice. The one in Vermont had lots of old junk computers, desks, etc.. Didn't look for flat files, but that would seem to be something that might be surplus also. Somewhere on the web I saw listings of government surplus (even some locomotives), but that was a couple of years ago and I can't remember where now. Perhaps you could pick up one of those $1000 toilet seats also!

I have the information for the Ohio surplus property program in my filing cabinet. We don't meet their criteria just yet, but are getting close. Once that happens then I plan to make full use of our state surplus program. I was involved with a museum in PA that was on the program, and we bought an Alco s1 for $750 and flatcars for $100 each. There is a website that lists everything that is available, and it makes my mouth water sometimes at what is available.

Search for DRMO and you'll find the site.
