PostPosted: Tue Mar 26, 2002 5:44 pm

The organizational meeting of the Midstate New York Central Railroad Association (MNYCRA) will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Photo
Media, 1250 E. Water St., Syracuse. The interim Board of Directors will meet at 7:00 p.m. with the Association membership meeting to follow. The tentative agenda for the Board meeting will be review of the constitution and by-laws, discussion of the not-for-profit corporation application and other business. The membership meeting will cover planning of future group
activities and projects. This organization will be an independent rail preservation group working to establish an operating rail museum for the Syracuse area.

Is this affiliate with CNY NRHS at all? If not, why the need for another organization? Does the area need another organization with CNY NRHS, ADCX, CACV, DURR, O&H, the museums in Rush and Industry in existence already?

Just curious as to the intentions of the group.

Does the proposed museum have any relationship to the Plank Road museum? I haven't been there, but I think Plank Road has a old car barn and a trolley car.

MNYCRA has no relationship to The Plank Road group, but, I can tell you that they do have an Ex Syracuse streetcar, I forget the number but it is a 1917 Kuhlman which has no machinery of any kind left on it. Also, the center sill and bolsters were removed when the car was sold for use as a building, the resulting carbody weighs so little that it is mounted on a mobile home chassis which is towed by a 1 ton pickup truck for parades. As for the Carbarn, it was torn down a couple of years ago. But they do have the old Syracuse & South Bay Electric Ry. North Syracuse, NY station preserved.
