Associated in some fashion with Baldwin. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Yes,

Burnham, Parry, Williams & Co. was one of the successive partnerships that operated as Baldwin Locomotive Works. I do not have my referance material with me; but I recall that it existed during the 1880, etc.

Baldwin was not incorporated until early part of the 20th century.

Hank,

There are about 205 surviving steam locomotives that were built under the Burnham, Parry, Williams & Co. The oldest is C&NW 4-4-0 #274 at the MoT in St. Louis; the youngest are three locomotives built in 1909.

Given your question above; I take it you saw 0-4-2T #1112 and 2-6-2T #1311 working at Ruben Martinez Villena Sugar Mill in Cuba. Built in 1878 and 1904 as construction numbers 4502 and 24839; respectively. Three more Burham-badged locomotives are in a railway museum in Sao Joao del Rei, Brazil.

Also started out as a Vulcan Compound! 1901 Simpled by Sacramento Shops in 1906 (Hmm, this is from memory, hope I'm right as the research is buried in boxes here)
