Post subject: Question on diesel paint-scheme
PostPosted: Tue May 14, 2002 12:56 pm

When Chicago, Burlington & Quincy's Electromotive model SD24 roadswitchers were first delivered, were some or all of them initially painted in the older black/grey livery, or were they at the outset in the newer Chinese red scheme? Thanks!!

George,

All of the SD24s were delivered in the BurlingtonÂ’s red (also known as Chinese Red) and gray scheme.

The folks at the Illinois RR Museum are repainting the SD24 in their collection back to the original Burlington colors (was BN 6244) and number of 504.

Regards and everywhere west!!!!!

In looking at Jerry Appleman's Steam photos, all I can say is "Wow, wasn't it great when steam excursions didn't have to run with aux. water tenders. Very nice photos.
