Erie Lackawanna MFE 36D-6 #3656, now known as WC SDP45 6634, is scheduled to be auctioned today. Hopefully, somebody like Bennett Levin or Dave Monte Verde was at the auction and purchased her Would those who attended the auction let me know what her fate was.
Thank You,
John J. Blair

Unfortunately no info on #6634, but the following information is from the trains.com web site:

Former Wisconsin Central units heading to new owners

Canadian National auctioned off more than 40 former Wisconsin Central locomotives last week in its first live auction.

The highest price fetched at the auction at the Illinois Central shop at Woodcrest, Ill: $22,750 for WC 6639, an SD45.

Many of the surplus locomotives – including GP35s, GP30s, SD24s, F45s, GP7s and GP9s – were described in the Blackmon Auctioneers sale brochure as "retired running," but most had at least minor parts removed prior to the sale.

Many locomotives sold in the $12,000 to $16,000 range. The high bidder for most of the ex-Santa Fe F45s was Ed Burkhardt's Rail World, while many of the GP35s went to LTE of Warren, Ohio. Burkhardt used to run WC, and was fond of its rebuilt fleet of second-generation locomotives.

Although the ex-Algoma Central F-units were on the property, they were not included in the auction. CN sources indicate the railway believes it can sell the F-units for considerably more than the auction prices.

The WC 6634 was sold to Rail World, aka Ed Burkhardt, et al for $17,050 (includes 10% buyer's premium). It was described as having a bad order turbo. The auction was held 7/11/02 at Homewood, Illinois. Rail World purchased four of the five F-45's at auction along with six SD-45's (including 6634) by my count.

What happened to the two SD24's?? The brief was unclear if all the units got auctioned off.
