Post subject: PSRM - San Diego election news
PostPosted: Sun Dec 22, 2002 12:31 pm

the attached email discusses the election results for new Board members for the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum, aka San Diego Railroad Museum and San Diego & Arizona Railway. I note that 100% of the elected members were those behind the recall effort and support going back to more museum business as a primary goal.

-----

Hi Folks,

The Election Committee (Bovee, Coval, Wolfgang)
met today
an oversaw the counting of the Board election
ballots.
The process was clear, well planned and
unambiguous. The
three committee members were able to certify the
results
without reservation.

Twenty-five clear winners were identified with no
ties.

The twenty-five individuals have been contacted
and all
have agreed to serve.

The twenty-fifth vote getter won with 48% of the
vote,
while the twenty-forth position won with about 60%
of
the vote. Thus, the winners received a clear
mandate
from the Museum membership.

As Charlie said in his last message, the time is
here
to "Think Trains" and put all the strife and
heartbreak
behind us. Thanks to everyone for all of their
support.

Regards,
Lew Wolfgang

Thank you for providing the information. I recognize a number of the names.

I wish all of you folks sucess in making the San Diego Railroad Museum a viable institution. I just hope that the twenty-five people bring the right resources and knowledge to the board to make it work togeather cooperatively. The last thing that you need is 25 competing ideas.

I would suggest that the board hold a strategic planning retreat utilizing an expert facilitator. Through the ARM I know of one who has commercial and institutional clients in the US and Canada (and even overseas) and is also a railfan. Contact me off-line for more information.

Brian -

I hope to bring the PSRM back into the good graces of our other railway museums - active again in ARM and TRAINS, etc.

Along those lines, we are neighboring railway museums - I'd love to work cooperatively with you on those items that are of common interest.

BTW - congratulations on OERM's Thomas day and purchasing many acres of adjacent land - terrific news. Please tell your fellow volunteers at OERM hello from San Diego.

Jim, nobody I know at other museums has any ill feelings about you guys. Best of luck and be prepared for some hard work, and hopefully blunt discussions of unpopular realities that lead to rational resolutions.

As the days now grow longer may your resolve also increase.
