I had a great time in the snow near Frostburg aboard Carl's Charter.
He really puts alot of effort into making the event enjoyable for his customers.
Thank you to all the "behind-the-scenes" staff, and especially the brush cutters.
I know other charters are going to take advantage of the cleared locations.
You can't blame the RR for wanting to make money on these other charters, but it would seem apropriate for some kind of remuneration from the others to Carl and company for their efforts.

Hopefully, the pending trail will not spoil this opportunity from happening again.

Now, can we get a real (or real looking!) W M
"north-eastern" caboose into service on this line ?!?

I repeat . . .into service.

I rode a Carl Franz special on the WMSR in 2000, and since I didn't have a computer then, I'll thank him now for the great weekend he put together. I also have to give credit for his crew, and Dan Pluta's crews in Cumberland, for running such a smooth steam trip. No. 734 is one of my favorites, partly because of the heavy tender it carries. It performs like you expect a steam engine to.

Steve- I'm glad you all had a nice time on Carl's trip- and I've ridden may of them myself.. but I don't know where you get the idea that Carl's brushcutters are the only folks who clear spots for photocharters. (This is the third or fourth time this has come up over the years and I'm starting to sense a real primadonna complex)
For example- Jim Gunning and friends worked hard on brushcutting and locomotive redecorating for the past two years on his small EBT charters. I didn't hear anyone asking for renumeration to Jim when Carl's passengers took advantage of all his hard work several days later.
Further- Dave Goodheart and friends worked on brushcutting and freightcar painting crews on the Ohio Central last year prior to two trips. This advantaged many others, but all I see is insults (on other boards) because he will receive some unfair advantage from Carl's trip.
I think someone ought to grow up and realize that some work gets done for the common good and if you can't accept that, don't participate.

Jim was aboard the trip of Carl's which I rode !

Some points well made !

I don't read those other boards,(strictly an RYPN devotee) so I don't know what insults are flying.

Looks like remuneration comes from reciprocation !
(scrabble anyone ?)

Think of Jack Nicholson's line as U.S. President in the movie Mars Attacks: "can't we all just get along?"

I'm getting out of this, before I get in trouble again, like last year at this time !

However:
I would be interested in helping with a freight car painting project on the WMSR...
I have done alot of equipment lettering over the last 20+ years...from lowly ballast hoppers up to the Chesapeake & Ohio on 614.
Can we get something going at Cumberland ?

Let's look to the positive !

I'm not registered on Trainorders, but I did get some shots by Ed Feathers and Tom Gears from Ed via email. Looks like it was a great trip. One of these days I've got to get on one of Carl's trips ...
