From my 100+ year old house the attic has yielded two copies of the " Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Railway Journal ". Issues for January and Feruaury 1959. Strangely Februaury is nearly pristine while Jan. is falling apart. Interesting topics include the locomotive fireman and his roll in the diesel era, Canadian wage disputes and winter fun in Death Valley. Also included is a ladies auxiliary section and lodge news. Very interesting. Anyone heard of this magazine and is it still printed?.

I haven't heard of that particular brotherhood's publication, but I'm not at all surprised that they had one. I don't know whether or not it is still published. All of the brotherhoods published a house organ of some sort. It served as a means of communication between a spread out membership and the union. Better known unions such as the Order of Railroad Conductors and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers had major membership publications. Older editions of these often appear for sale at places like eBay. Most of the railroad companies had house organ magazines for pretty much the same reason.
