Since this morning I have been DELUGED with messages asking how to help the B&O Museum.

PLEASE STAND BY and DO NOT rush to help just yet.

The snow situation is still serious in Baltimore. It will be at least a couple days before the Museum staff can even hope to properly assess the situation. If this Museum is anything like most museums, the insurance is likely to neither cover an "act of God" or, if it does, will cover building repairs but not artifact repair or replacement.

If you want to help immediately, go to the Museum website and make a donation at https://www.borail.org/donation.asp . You may make a donation there by credit card, or mail a check or money order. The best thing to do is to earmark the donation specifically for "emergency repairs", "disaster relief" or whatever. Or you may make an unrestricted gift.

As for assistance in physical repair and restoration, that is unfortunately in the hands of professionals for now. Remember, at this point neither the remainder of the roundhouse nor the shop building are safe to occupy yet. IF--and it's a *big* IF--volunteer help is solicited, I will let anyone know as soon as possible.

To squelch rumors right now, there has been NO decision made yet regarding the Fair of the Iron Horse.
