As I recall a group was started to investigate the best way to save the engine and they were given some time by the authorities to do so. I think an evaluation of the engine and possibly it's display location was next on the schedule. I have not heard anything lately but considering it is winter I am not suprised.

I was in Minot yesterday and the engine is still on display with no signs of activity. The Soo depot in town is in great shape as well.

Mark:

I'm a bit confused by your post. Originally we had a report in RyPN that the Minot 4-6-2 had a problem with asbestos and thus there was a problem with the locomotive. You say in your post that the "Soo depot in town is in great shape as well." I'm not sure if it really IS in great shape or if you were talking with "tongue in cheek."
