A while back someone posted a thread about efforts to save a Wagner palace car that was built into a house, in Florida (?), I believe. Any updates, anyone? Also, how many Wagner cars are still in existance? Up here in Alberta, thereÂ’s a decrepit Wagner car (an ex-W&LE parlour-observation, I believe) rotting away on a farm.

Shelburne Museum in Vermont has former Central Vermont Car 86, built by Wagner about 1899 or so. It's history is not fully known, but believed to have been a Rutland car originally, when William Seward Webb (father of the Museum's founder) was president of Wagner and the Rutland RR. It's a steel frame, wooden bodied car, with steel sheathing and ends on the carbody. In good condition, and under cover, with 24 hour security. The car has only spent about 15 years of its life outside. On the CV, it was kept sheltered under the big trainshed at St. Albans until purchase by the Museum in the early 1960s. It sat outdoors at the Museum until the mid-1970s, when the fancy shelter was built over it and CV 4-6-0 220.
