Kinzua was hit by a tornado

The Bradford Era newspaper today (link below) is noting that the National Weather Service is stating that the storm that brought down the Kinzua Viaduct was a full-fledged Fujita-scale F1 tornado, not just a thunderstorm. In addition, a F3 tornado struck nearby Coudersport, Pa. in the same front.

Interesting notes: The piers that collapsed had been awaiting renovation work; the ones that remained had all been renovated, according to one story. However, I may also conjecture that, based on the tree damage in a couple aerial photos, the bridge got nailed directly by the tornado, and the sections that fell were also the ones actually hit by the tornado.
