I can probably answer any questions you have regarding this railroad. It was the dream of my father's, and he built it by hand over a period of 35 years. The RR is 24" gauge (2 Ft) and has about 1 mile of track through a wooded park also built by dad.
The motive equipment consists of two locomotives, fashioned after Plymouth switchers, one that he built in the basement of our home, the other completed shortly before he passed away in May of 2002. He also has a "steam" locomotive that was built in the 30's and ran at the Oregon State Fair until an engineer allowed the water to run low. The engine was converted to gas (Model A engine) and continued to run at the state fair until 1952 when it was scrapped becuase the fair board decieded no one would like to ride trains any more. It was salvaged from the wrecking yard, and ran locally in Salem for many years until Dad bought it and moved it to Sweetbrier Park. The park is located about 20 miles east of Salem, Oregon, and operates mostly on weekends in the summer, and then during October (weather permitting) for a Pumpkin Patch. Following Dad's passing away, the train didnt run for a year, but this year several members of a local G Scale club have elected to operate the train to the enjoyment of the folks that have made a tradition of family visits to the park.
