It was announced recently that at least some of the units went to Rolling Stock Solutions (RSS), a company formed by a former MBTA employee. They will be used in a leased power fleet catering to the commuter rail industry.

Everybody please feel free to do your own research on what units.

https://www.trains.com/trn/news-reviews ... perations/ They may be successful, there is a reason 1970's EMDs had a long, long waiting time for orders.

Had an unexpected technical question relating to F40PH locomotives come in just today. Seems they never end. Maybe I should be posting the F40PH Q&A in the HRA reference library.

Just to clarify, but none of the MBTA F40's listed in the auction went to RSS. All 13 were cut up in Rochester. The 1008 & 1013 are still for sale. Their condition is questionable.

As I understand it , RSS is acquiring some F40's from LTE.

Dave, Thanks for clarifying that. The information I received was apparently incorrect.
